The Last Summer On Earth

The Harrah’s Stir Concert Cove in Council Bluffs, Iowa kicked off their second show of the outdoor concert season with a little 90s throwback on Sunday evening, June 3rd, with The Barenaked Ladies, Better Than Ezra, and KT Tunstall. The weather was perfect for an outdoor evening and the crowd was more than ready to enjoy some music and fun.

KT Tunstall was the first act to play.  The Scottish singer said she had been traveling the US in an RV for this tour. She felt it was the proper way to travel America.  KT played solo on stage, with no band, and added a little bit of comedy to her set.

Better Than Ezra shortly followed her and really got the crowd going. BTE has been a band for more than 30 years. The band was formed back in 1988 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Members include, Kevin Griffin (vocals), Tom Drummond (bassist), James Arthur Payne (guitarist/keys), and Michael Jerome (drummer).

The Barenaked Ladies stole the show Sunday night.  As they announced this is the last tour as a band, they decided a fitting name for the tour was “The Last Summer on Earth”. The Barenaked Ladies formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.  After forming, the band shortly developed a following in Canada and received a record deal from Reprise Records in 1992. Members include Ed Robertson (vocalist), Jim Creeggan (bassist), Tyler Stewart (drummer), and Kevin Hearn (keys).
