Augmented Reality Used in U2’s Tour

U2’s upcoming Experience + Innocence tour that starts May 2nd, will be “the first concert tour to incorporate augmented reality.” That’s a quote attributed to Willie Williams in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, which includes a preview of several 2018 tours. U2’s longtime tour designer also says the E+I tour “staging takes that of its predecessor to a new level,” referring to the 2015 indoor Innocence + Experience tour.

U2 plans to play longer sets with no openers and tells fans to expect plenty of new songs, hits and “rarities that the band is excited to be playing live for the first time.”
