Bret Michaels Brings Parti-Gras Tour to Stir Cove

Story and Photos by Audrey Wright

Poison lead singer Bret Michaels came out to Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, IA Saturday night, May 20th, not only to play his music and some Poison hits, but to also support our troops, veterans, and first responders. Guy Fieri also made an appearance to welcome his new restaurant inside Harrah’s Casino and to support Bret Michaels during his show.

Country star, Frank Ray, was the opener for the evening. Reigning from New Mexico, retired police officer turned country music star hit the charts in 2017 and opened up for Ashley McBryde. In 2018 he released his first EP titled Different Kind Of Country. Ray signed to BBR Music Group in 2021 debuting his single titled Streetlights. Frank Ray had really great energy the whole set. He got everyone dancing and singing to some cover songs and his original tunes as well. Frank Ray’s new self titled album will be out on July 7th.

After a much anticipated evening, Bret Michaels brought his fun and infectious energy out on stage. I have been wanting to shoot his shows for a few years now but it had never panned out, so I was elated that I was finally able to do so. If there’s one thing Bret knows how to do, it is get a crowd going. He loves his fans like they are family. Not only does Bret love his fans, but he is also a huge philanthropist. He loves supporting troops, veterans, and gives back to the community in any way that he can. Such a talented and down to earth guy. Bret played Poison hits including my favorite Every Rose. He also played some of his solo work and even did a couple cover songs. If there’s one thing Bret Michaels knows how to do, it is throw a party. I had a great time and I am glad that this was my first show back at Stir Cove for the season!

I would like to thank Stir Cove and their staff for having me out this evening. You guys are the best! Thank you to Bret Michaels and his team for putting on a great show and allowing me to capture it! Until next time, friends.
