Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour says he wants to make a new album before he hits the road again.

Almost a year after his last live show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, David Gilmore spoke about the possibility of going on tour again in a new video promoting his upcoming concert film ‘Live At Pompeii’.

“I feel very uncomfortable heading off and doing another tour without having any new music,” David says in the clip.

“There are several songs that are close to being complete, which didn’t make it onto this album (2015’s ’Rattle That Lock’). I can’t see myself doing another tour without making another album first and that takes me a while.

“It took 10 years last time and I’m really hoping, without making any promises, that it won’t take 10 years this time, that I’ll get back in and start working again. And following that, yeah, I’ll be out again.”

Despite the lengthy nine-year wait fans had for ‘Rattle That Lock’, this was nothing compared to the 22-year gap between 1984’s ‘About Face’ and 2006’s ‘On an Island’, although Pink Floyd did release ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ and ‘The Division Bell’ within that period.

‘Live at Pompeii’ hits over 2,000 cinema screens across the globe on Wednesday 13th September before it gets a release on DVD, CD, Blu-ray and digital formats on Friday 29th September.

Filmed at David’s two historic shows in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre on 7th and 8th July 2016 in front of 2,600 people each night, the shows were the first in front of an audience at the historic location since the gladiators in the first century AD. It also took place 45 years after Pink Floyd’s fabled film in an empty amphitheatre.
